GREENSBORO, N.C. — Area writers will use their talents to feed the hungry during the 15th annual Will Read for Food benefit Thursday, Nov. 19, at UNCG.
The event, which starts at 7 p.m. in the Weatherspoon Art Museum Auditorium, will benefit various Greensboro charities. A donation of $5 for students and $10 for the general public is suggested. The fundraiser will also include raffles of autographed books and literary magazines. Raffle tickets will be available for purchase at the door. Free appetizers and live music will be available at intermission.
Participants this year include Stuart Dischell, Holly Goddard Jones, Craig Nova, Michael Parker, Rachel Richardson, David Roderick and Lee Zacharias. Books by participating authors will be on sale both before and after the event.
Hope Hodgkins, a UNCG English professor, first organized Will Read for Food as Writer’s Harvest in 1994. Since 1995, the annual benefit has been run by novelist and short story writer Michael Parker and has featured faculty from the MFA Writing Program at Greensboro as well as other authors from across the Triad.
Free parking is available behind the Weatherspoon Art Museum. Contact Terry Kennedy at (336) 334-5459 or terry_kennedy@uncg.edu for more details.
