Canadian Pianist Performs Oct. 27

GREENSBORO, N.C. Acclaimed Canadian pianist Jacques Després will perform at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 27, in the School of Music Recital Hall.


Tickets are $10 general, $6 seniors, $4 students and $3 UNCG students. Tickets can be purchased by calling the University Box Office at (336) 334-4849 or online at boxoffice.uncg.edu.


Després has performed across North America for nearly 20 years. He has been a featured soloist with the symphony orchestra of Montreal, Quebec; won the Frank Kopp Memorial Prize at the University of Maryland International Piano competition; and took first prize in the Montreal Symphony Orchestra Competition, the Musical Academy of Quebec "prix d' Europe" competition and the doctoral concerto competition at the State University of New York at Stony Brook.


Després recently completed his doctorate degree at SUNY Stony Brook and holds a master’s degree from the Juilliard School of Music.


Després’ performance is presented by the Daniel Ericourt Piano Artist Residency, which honors the work of world-renowned pianist Daniel Ericourt, the School of Music’s first artist-in-residence from 1964-67.
