  • Dr. Christopher Ruhm, the Jefferson-Pilot Excellence Professor of Economics in the Bryan School of Business and Economics, was interviewed by CNN International about his research on the relationship between economic downturns and health outcomes. (5-30-08).
  • Brett Woodard, assistant director for internships in Caree Services, was quoted in a story about the significance of internships for students. Triad Business Journal *subscription required*. (5-29)
  • Dr. Erick Byrd, an assistant professor of travel & tourism was quoted in an article on how cities in the "Rust Belt" are turning to tourism for a lift in their local economies.  Associated Press (5-24-08)
  • Keith Debbage, a geography professor, compiled the Greensboro Partnership's "State of the City Report." The report and Debbage's comments about it were the focus of an article in the Greensboro News & Record. (5-23-08)
  • Stephen Holland, assistant professor of economics in the Bryan School, was quoted in the High Point Enterprise about whether speculation was driving up oil prices. (5-22-08).
  • Political Science Professor Thom Little was quoted in a Greensboro News & Record story on the N.C. Legislature's plans to honor Greensboro with a special session at NC A&T. (5-21-08)
  • Nursing Alumna Lelia Moore, the School of Nursing's 2008 Distinguished Alumni Award winner, was profiled recently in Nancy McLaughlin's "On Religion" column in the Greensboro News & Record. (5-17-08)

  • Jerry McGuire, director of the Office of Technology Transfer, was quoted in an article about the state's efforts to nurture centers of innovation, including the Center of Innovation in Nanobiotechnology. The Business Journal (5-16-08)
  • Jill Shaw, a registered dietician and nutritional educator at the Anna M. Gove Student Health Center, was interviewed about teen weight issues by WFMY News 2. (5-13-08).
  • UNCG's new plan for bicycle use on campus is nearing completion and will be in place for fall semester to encourage and help members of the university community to commute to campus by bicycle. WGHP Fox 8 News (5-13-08)
  • Provost David Perrin is serving on an advisory panel for a division of the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services. The Business Journal (5-13-08)
  • Donna Seckar, director of Career Services, and Dr. Andrew Brod, director of the Office of Business & Economic Research, were quoted in a Greensboro News & Record story on the job outlook for 2008 grads. (5-9-08)
  • Ann Somers, a biology faculty member and chairwoman of the Box Turtle Collaborative, was quoted in an article about eastern box turtles in the Raleigh News & Observer. (5-5-08)
  • Students in the Educational Interpreter Program wowed their audience as they competed in the fourth annual ASL (American Sign Language) Idol contest.  Students used their creativity and signing skills to perform songs for the deaf.   • Alumni from the Class of 1958 gave the largest-ever reunion class gift to UNCG when class officers presented Chancellor Patricia A. Sulivan with a check for $1.08 million during Reunion Weekend. Greensboro News & Record (5-4-08)
