Faculty Members Receive Year-End Awards for Teaching Excellence

GREENSBORO, NC – Faculty members at UNCG have received awards for teaching excellence for the 2007-08 year.

Each of the winners received a cash award during events in April, May or at ceremonies over the May 16-17 commencement weekend. The awards are provided by UNC General Administration, which allocates funds for all 17 campuses in the UNC system to reward faculty members for excellence in teaching within their academic colleges and professional schools. The winners are:

• College of Arts and Sciences, Dr. Matina Kalcounis-Ruppell, Department of Biology, and Dr. Jan Rychtar, Department of Mathematics & Statistics.

• School of Education, Dr. Kelly Wester, Department of Counseling/Educational Development, and Dr. Heidi Carlone, Department of Curriculum and Instruction.

• School of Health and Human Performance, Dr. David Cardenas, Department of Recreation, Tourism & Hospitality Management.

• School of Nursing, Dr. Lois VonCannon, Department of Community Practice.

• School of Human Environmental Sciences, Dr. Susan Dennison, Department of Social Work.

• Bryan School of Business and Economics, Dr. William Harden, Department of Accounting & Finance, and Dr. Nir B. Kshteri, Department of Business Administration.

• School of Music, Dr. Gavin Douglas.
