The Princeton Review has ranked UNCG among the nation’s best values for an undergraduate education.
UNCG is included in the new edition of Princeton Review’s “Best 361 Colleges.” It is also included among the select list of 80 institutions to receive “Best Value College” ratings, and included among the “Best in the South” institutions.
UNCG has been ranked in the survey for the past seven years, according to Dr. Cindy Farris, interim associate provost for enrollment services.
“UNCG is a great value for our students and their families,” said Farris. “It is gratifying to have The Princeton Review once again include the university among the best public institutions in the country. This ranking is based on a combination of the quality of the academic experience provided to our students and of tuition costs.”
For the 2006 rankings, Princeton Review surveyed 110,000 students to arrive at the list of 361 institutions, which included public and private colleges and universities. A total of 60 different categories were surveyed, including academics, financial aid, quality of campus life, student body interest in politics and athletics.
Cost for attending UNCG in 2005-06, including tuition, fees, room, board and books, is approximately $9,575. In addition to UNCG, other North Carolina schools included in the “Best 361 Colleges” are Catawba College, Davidson College, Duke University, Elon University, Guilford College, N.C. State University, UNC Asheville, UNC Chapel Hill, Wake Forest University and Warren Wilson College.

Princeton Review, a New York City-based company, is best known for its test preparation courses, education services and books. It first published its “Best Colleges” guide in 1992, offering rankings in a variety of categories based on student ratings.
