UNCG saw something of the art of patience this fall. During the week prior to their University Concert/Lecture Series performance, the Tibetan Monks of Drepung Loseling monastery created a sand mandala on the first floor of Elliott University Center. The painstaking process of dropping grains of sand onto a platform to form the picture took three days and attracted the attention of hundreds of passers-by. After it was completed, the monks performed a closing ceremony, including obliterating the image to show the ephemeral nature of the world.
